The exhibition featured an integration of various editions of the Thai duo Jiandyin’s artwork, all sharing the title On Adaptation, which explores how individuals adapt and maintain stability in different conditions. As described by the Thai duo, remoteness signifies a geographical fragility that frequently results in the marginalisation of ethnic groups as minorities, social exclusion, and the gradual fading away of local history into forgotten memories.
Much like the soft objects floating within the gallery space, exclusion, marginalisation, and cultural uprooting are common circumstances that individuals must grapple with when displaced to entirely new environments. These challenges require a process of struggle and adaptation, as individuals navigate their way through unfamiliar territories.
